This list catalogs and briefly describes (if the name is not descriptive enough) some of the most used templates on Celeste Wiki in logical-alphabetical order. For more details, check the documentation pages and look for use examples (press "What links here" on the template's page). Templates that are supposed to be used only on one or a few special pages (like Template:VFSrules or Main Page templates) are not listed. Some templates may be listed multiple times, although this should be kept to a minimum. You may also want to browse Category:Templates or use the Search function of your browser (default: Ctrl+F).
Linking templates
Templates to simplify linking between pages.
Any page → Any page
- Template:About to avoid confusion between similarly-named pages.
- Template:For also to avoid confusion (but it's shorter).
- Template:Further if you want the reader to browse more so they hopefully get where they wanted.
- Template:Main to link readers to a main page on that topic (usually used in subparagraphs).
- Template:See also if you want to link to pages for similar topics.
Any page → Chapter page
- Template:Ch to link to a chapter and write it in words (so
{{ch|1A|lf=1}}
gives Forsaken City A-Side). - Template:Levelselectsmall as a sort-of list of chapters.
Any page → Other special page
- Template:Dpage links to a page with the chapter's dialogues.
- Template:Mod links to a mod (deprecated).
- Template:u links to a user page.
Any page → Out-of-wiki page (citations)
- Template:Cite web.
- Template:Cite tweet.
- Template:w links to a Wikipedia article and makes the text green. You can also use interwiki transclusions.
- Template:Wikipedia slightly offensively cites Wikipedia (form similar to a userbox)
- Template:Wikipediapar a bit more offensively cites Wikipedia.
Special page → Any page
- Template:CatBrowser - no, not cats, categories... bummer :(
- Template:Disambig to signify the disambiguation page.
- Template:Shortcut to add a shortcut notice. Does not automatically create a redirect to this page; it must be created manually.
- Template:Shortcuts to add more shortcuts.
- Template:Soft redirect to make a soft redirect (if a hard one won't do).
Substitution templates
These templates just substitute something to make your life easier. Oh, and maybe also auto-categorize.
Instruction templates
Instruct the user on how to use a page of some sort.
- Template:Dialogues for dialogue pages.
- Template:Talkwarn for talk pages.
Item (emoji) templates
They do nothing but insert a letter-sized picture of something.
Notice templates
Templates that make some P.S. notes about the article. May or may not be amboxes.
- Template:Ambox
- Template:Policy for Celeste Wiki policies.
- Template:Construction for unfinished pages, paragraphs, or sections that you plan to finish soon.
- Template:Stub for articles you don't plan to finish soon.
- Template:Raw port for raw ports from other wikis.
- Template:Raw port sj for raw ports from the Strawberry Jam Collab wiki.
- Template:Spoiler (without parameters except
level
).
Special thingy templates
Some of these can't be used outside of a table with a certain structure. However, they are still included because of their abundance on respective pages.
- Template:Ach for use in Farewell Golden Collectors' List/archive.
- Template:Documentation to include documentation in templates.
- Template:Ivd to replace Youtube video ID with link to w:Invidious.
- Template:Mechanic for use in Mechanics.
- Template:Soundtrack to easily cite soundtracks.
- Template:Soundtracks for referencing multiple of them.
- Template:Listen to, well, listen! Use with caution, beware of copyrights!
Statistics templates
Templates that show statistics of the wiki, the game, or the mod. Version is one of the statistics.
- Template:About Celeste Wiki
- Template:Vhist displays the current version of Celeste on various platforms (not all of them because Celeste is picky)
- Template:Cver console, Template:Cver itch, and Template:Cver steam supply the version number.
(actual) Substitution templates
Those have no arguments, no additional functions, and their sole purpose is if their message is to be changed, this message should be changed everywhere it's used.
- Template:DiscordLink links to https://discord.gg/AKKWArpjfb, our Discord server.
Formatting templates
Templates that help format (or hide) text (or whatever).
Extra notes templates
- Template:Abbr for clarifying abbrs or condensions to one word.
- Template:Tooltip for clarifying something that is not an abbreviation.
Hiding (spoiler) templates
- Template:c hides the text from the user until they hover over it.
- Template:Collapse top and Template:Collapse bottom signify the start and end of the content needing to be hidden.
- Template:Spoiler inline combines the two into one.
- Template:Spoiler combines Spoiler inline and adds a notice at its top.
- Template:Spoiler minor adds a similar notice as Spoiler (and that it's minor) but does not include Spoiler inline.
- Template:Spoiler combines Spoiler inline and adds a notice at its top.
- Template:Spoiler inline combines the two into one.
Switch templates
These templates switch some content upon user interaction. For images, you may also use galleries in slideshow mode or tabs (example: Summit/Collectables)
- Template:Imageswitch switches an image to another one when the user clicks a button (that's actually a div).
Other formatting
- Template:Emn for
:Discord emoji-style formatting:
