Jump to navigation Jump to search

This list catalogs and briefly describes (if the name is not descriptive enough) the most-used templates on Celeste Wiki in logical-alphabetical order. For more details, check the documentation pages and look for use examples (press "What links here" on the template's page). Some templates may be listed multiple times if they have multiple different use cases. You may also want to browse Category:Templates or use your browser's Search function (default: Ctrl+F).

Linking templates[edit | edit source]

Templates to simplify linking between pages or websites.

Pages with similar name or content[edit | edit source]

  • Template:About to avoid confusion between similarly-named pages. Example: This page is about Topic1. For Topic2, see Article2. For other uses, see Topic (disambiguation).
  • Template:Disambig to signify the disambiguation page.
  • Template:For also to avoid confusion (but it's shorter). Example: For Topic2, see Article2.
  • Template:Further if you want the reader to browse more so they hopefully get where they wanted.
  • Template:Main to link readers to a main page on that topic (used in subparagraphs or category pages).
  • Template:See also to link to pages with similar topics.

Substitution templates[edit | edit source]

These templates paste some text either to make life easier for editors or if their message is to be changed, this message should be changed everywhere it's used.

Item (emoji) templates[edit | edit source]

They insert a letter-sized picture of something.

Symbol templates[edit | edit source]

These templates insert a symbol or a few symbols, possibly because they conflict with wiki markup. Do not use them unless the plaintext variant breaks the page.

Soundtrack templates[edit | edit source]

These templates are used to list and link to soundtracks, either from the Celeste OST, modded soundtracks, or unrelated to Celeste.

Formatting templates[edit | edit source]

Templates that help format or spoiler content.

Extra notes[edit | edit source]

These templates allow you to include word explanations in tooltips. They are unsupported on most devices except computers, so use them sensibly and in addition to inline expansion. Check this Wikipedia documentation page for more detail.

  • Template:Abbr for clarifying abbrs or one-word condensions.
  • Template:Tooltip for clarifying something not an abbreviation.

Spoilers[edit | edit source]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

Template:Q allows you to insert a quote:

“Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative.”

~ Oscar Wilde

Other formatting[edit | edit source]

  • Template:Emn for :Discord emoji-style formatting: (notably used in Frogeline)
  • Template:Color makes the text colored.
  • Template:Smallcaps makes the text smaller but in uppercase so it becomes SMALL CAPS.

Talk page templates[edit | edit source]

These templates are for use in talk pages and discussions.

Infobox templates[edit | edit source]

Infoboxes of some sort are used on more than half of all main namespace pages, so consider using them too. You may also request one to be added! Please note that all infoboxes must start with Infobox.

Every infobox template will have its fields (and short explanations for some in tooltips) listed below for your convenience. Although in most use cases only one infobox is appropriate, you can choose what suits your needs best. Feel free to experiment! Technical fields (like to circumvent categorization) are not listed, but you can find them on the respective documentation pages.
