[Update]

Not to be confused with the Fandom Celeste Wiki, the GitHub modding wiki, or other wikis.

Celeste Wiki (also known by its domain name, celeste.ink) is a fan-made, open-source, free-to-edit wiki about Celeste, a platformer videogame released in 2018, as well as its spin-offs, mods, and community.

Celeste Wiki was founded on January 8, 2021, by User:Celeste, and is hosted by Miraheze. Its mission is to become a complete website for everything Celeste-related, vanilla and modded. The wiki has a dedicated Discord server and a wiki portal to help new editors.

Contents[edit | edit source]

Celeste Wiki has 302 articles[note 1] documenting various Celeste-related things. Of these, the most popular articles, also featured on the Main Page, are Tech and Entities; they are also among the largest and most-edited pages. Celeste Wiki also has articles about all vanilla chapters, some entities, tech, and other features such as game modes.

Still, the majority of articles are about mods, of which the most prevalent are individual articles about Strawberry Jam Collab maps and Spring Collab maps. There are also articles about non-collab maps and custom entities. The most popular community sheets, documents, and resources are also described.

History[edit | edit source]

Celeste Wiki's Discord server was founded on January 8, 2021, by User:XavierShvier, and the Miraheze wiki was set up shortly after by User:Celeste. In the following months, 80 articles and most templates were created. The ownership of the Discord server was also transferred to User:Celeste on April 14, 2021. On December 12, 2021, frogelines were imported on Celeste Wiki.

The wiki was hardly active in 2022. Most notably, the Maddy Thorson article was copied from Wikipedia.

In 2023, the wiki's Main Page was finally updated following the unanimous vote on the Celeste Wiki Discord server. Most articles and templates were rewritten and updated, with many new ones added as well. Efforts were made to encourage new editors to contribute to Celeste Wiki, including advertising in Celestecord, making the wiki's portal, and writing guides for editors. Additionally, articles about mods, including Banana Mountain, Everlasting Farewell, and Mount Steep, were created on Celeste Wiki. This partially changed the wiki's scope, as it was initially intended for vanilla content only.

In the first quarter of 2024, the article count was more than doubled following the creation of all Strawberry Jam Collab map articles. Also, Techniques was renamed to Tech, and Mechanics was renamed to Entities following community consensus. As such, Consensus names were introduced.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The celeste.ink wiki is frequently compared with the Celeste Fandom Wiki, with the latter usually criticized[1]. celeste.ink is mentioned as having better and more up-to-date content than the Fandom Wiki. However, the celeste.ink wiki is also blamed for having wrong entity names, no explanations for or mentions of some tech, and being overall incomplete.

Lena Raine has granted permission to use the game's soundtrack on Celeste Wiki. Its link is pinned in Celestecord from November 24, 2021[2].

  1. Some technical subpages and soft redirects count as articles, so their actual number is lower by about 20.
