The Top Golden List on goldberries.net

The Top Golden List, located at goldberries.net, is a list that shows all the modded maps in Celeste that have been completed without dying, as well as names of people who did the goldens. It aims to archive all the golden clears of maps or deathless clears of map packs, as well as motivate people to go for goldens and make the deathless completion scene of Celeste more active in general. This list initially took inspiration from other golden berry lists, such as Farewell golden list by DJTom3, D-Side golden list by Zerex and talia, and CC-Side golden list by Ezel142.

The "Celeste Modded Done Deathless!" Discord server for the project is also linked here. It is used for discussion of the list and the difficulty of various challenges, along with a changelog for when new challenges are added or moved.

To add your submission to the sheet, you should register either with an email and password or Discord, claim your player (if you had submissions before August 2024) or create a new player, then fill out the submission form and wait for verification.

It is also worth noting that the phrase "golden" here refers to deathless challenges in general rather than just golden strawberries. These can include silver berries, platinum berries, other custom berries, and achievements such as multiple maps deathless in a row.

Top Golden List[edit | edit source]

The Top Golden List Rankings is a list of the hardest golden strawberry clears, ranked by difficulty, where the minimum requirement to get on the list is to be harder than "Hell Trio" from vanilla, which are the B-Side golden strawberries of chapters 6, 7, and 8. It ranks the difficulty for every golden above this threshold in the form of a tier system, split into eight difficulty tiers, with Tier 0 being the hardest and Tier 7 being the easiest. Tiers 0-3 are divided into two or three subtiers each (High, Mid, Low) and sorted alphabetically within each subtier, while the rest are unranked within their tiers. The Farewell Golden Berry (without using Dash Trigger Skip) from the base game is one of the difficulty references for Low Tier 3.

Some challenges are marked as [FC] next to their name, referring to a Full Clear golden (a golden clear with all optional collectables: red berries, cassette, etc. collected during the run) which is harder than a regular clear. Maps where the full clear and regular clear are the same difficulty are marked as [C/FC].

To the right is a list of "undetermined" maps, usually maps with very few golden clears. Their difficulty can not be accurately judged, so the maps are not put in any tier until more opinions on this challenge's difficulty are formed.

Campaign List[edit | edit source]

The Campaign List lists all mods that have been goldened and meet the list's criteria. If the mod has more than one map, players can submit entries for each map separately. Each campaign page lists the people who goldened at least one map from the mod, as well as their goldened maps percentage and the link to the video of the clear. The Campaign List is divided into two sections: Hard Golden List (maps above the difficulty of Hell Trio, being the B-Sides of chapters 6, 7, and 8 of vanilla game) and Standard Golden List (maps easier than Hell Trio). Hard Golden List has over 250 campaigns and 5000 submissions, while Standard Golden List has over 1000 campaigns and 37,000 submissions.

Special Collab/Map Pack Tabs[edit | edit source]

There are individual tabs for larger collabs and map packs that are big and popular enough to warrant the direct link. Strawberry Jam Collab, Spring Collab, and Celeste 2021 Winter Collab are the only collabs big enough to be listed here as of now. Monika’s D-Sides is the only map pack that has a direct link.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Tier 0 was added to the Top Golden List on January 28, 2023, after Clantis obtained the Waterbear Mountain Full Clear Golden Berry.
  • Following the addition of Tier 0, the Top Golden List tiers were reversed on February 9, 2023, such that Tier 8 would be the hardest and Tier 1 the easiest to make it easier for new players to understand. This change was reverted a few weeks later on March 5, 2023, after community backlash.
  • If a challenge above Tier 0 in difficulty is completed (such as the Final Goodbye Platinum Berry), it will go into Tier X, and this tier extends up till infinity in difficulty.
  • The "etselec" tab, for the popular mod etselec, was listed in the Special Map Pack Tabs until it was removed on May 26, 2024, due to not being special enough.
  • The list was officially a Google Sheets spreadsheet until August 2, 2024, when goldberries.net was released. Before release, the website was in public testing and accepted meme submissions.
