The Top Golden List tab from the Golden Sheet

The Custom Map Golden Strawberry List (commonly called The Golden List or The Golden Sheet) is a Google spreadsheet that shows all the modded maps in Celeste that have been completed without dying, as well as names of people who did the goldens. It aims to archive all the golden clears of maps or deathless clears of map packs, as well as motivating people to go for goldens and making the deathless completion scene of Celeste more active in general. This list initially took inspiration from other golden berry lists, such as: Farewell golden list by DJTom3, D-Side golden list by Zerex and talia, and CC-Side golden list by Ezel142.

The “Celeste Modded Done Deathless!” discord server for the project is also linked here. It is used for discussion of the list and the difficulty of various challenges, along with a changelog for when new challenges are added or moved.

To have your submission added to the sheet, you can either ping the Modded Golden Team in Celestecord or the list moderators in the Celeste Modded Done Deathless discord server. All submissions and new challenges added must follow the submission guidelines and map criteria listed on the rules tab.

Main Tabs

Top Golden List

The Top Golden List Rankings is a list of the hardest golden strawberry clears, ranked by difficulty, where the minimum requirement to get on the list is to be harder than "Hell Trio" from vanilla, which are the B-Side golden strawberries of chapters 6, 7, and 8. It ranks the difficulty for every golden above this threshold difficulty in the form of a tier system, split into 8 difficulty tiers, with Tier 0 being the hardest and Tier 7 being the easiest. Tiers 0-3 are divided into 2 or 3 subtiers each (High, Mid, Low) and sorted alphabetically within each subtier, while the rest are unranked within their tiers. The maps with stars next to their name are difficulty references for their respective tier, most notably, the Farewell Golden Berry (without using Dash Trigger Skip) from the base game is one of the difficulty references for Low Tier 3.

Some challenges are marked as [FC] next to their name, referring to a Full Clear golden (a golden clear with all optional collectibles: red berries, cassette, etc collected during the run) which is harder than a regular clear. Maps where the full clear and regular clear are the same difficulty are marked as [C/FC].

To the right is a list of “pending” maps, usually maps with very few golden clears, so their difficulty can not be accurately judged and thus are not put within any tier until more difficulty opinions are formed on the challenge.

Hard Golden List

This tab lists all the goldens above the threshold difficulty (Hell Trio) sorted alphabetically by campaign and map name. The cells to the right of each map show the list of people that have collected said golden berry in order of completion date from left to right. It can be thought of as a different way to view the Top Golden List where the maps are sorted alphabetically rather than by difficulty tier.

Standard Golden List

This tab lists all the modded goldens below the threshold difficulty in the same format as the Hard Golden List tab. These goldens range in difficulty from slightly easier than Hell Trio to as easy as the easiest golden in the base game, and there are over 5 times more maps in this list compared to Hard Golden List.

Mega Collab Tabs

These are individual tabs for larger collabs that may take up too much space on the previous 2 tabs, these are not listed under Hard Golden List or Standard Golden List but only in their respective tabs. Strawberry Jam Collab, Spring Collab 2020, and Secret Santa Collab 2023 are the only collabs big enough to be listed here as of now.

Special Map Pack Tabs

These are individual tabs for large map packs with high popularity. These are also not listed under Hard Golden List and Standard Golden List in the same way as the Mega Collabs. Monika’s D-Sides is the only tab under this category as of now.

Other Tabs

Arbitrary Golden List

The list of goldens with arbitrary restrictions, the arbitrary challenge is written as a comment on the cell for each map. For example: Spring Collab 2020’s Expert Heart Side without the use of Dash Trigger Skip is listed here. This category also lists segment collectables for beating sections of a map deathless if there is a collectable (such as a silver berry) associated with it. For instance, the 17 golden segments in Final Goodbye for doing certain sets of checkpoints deathless are listed here.

Full Game Runs and Challenges

The list of deathless map pack challenges, with the specific challenge listed next to the mod name. Such as doing all maps of a campaign deathless, 100% deathless, any lobby of a collab deathless, etc.

Archived Golden List

The list of goldens for all old version maps which were significantly updated in some way. When maps are updated in a way that significantly alters them and their difficulty the golden clears for the old and new versions of the map are split into separate challenges. Examples include the old version of Mauve, which was heavily nerfed with newer versions, or Crystal Garden (v1.4) which was later updated to be heavily buffed in difficulty.

Rejected Maps

Maps which did not fit the criteria for the list, with their reason for rejection listed side by side.

The Top Golden List on goldberries.net

goldberries.net or goldberries is a work-in-progress site to eventually move the entire Custom Map Golden Strawberry List from a Google spreadsheet to an actual website. It is being worked on by viddie and yoshi and introduces many new features to the list. These include quality of life features for the verifiers for easy of use with a better system for creating new challenges, an improved suggestion-box system, a nicer UI design along with a better search function, and many other useful features.

The website has been in a public testing phase since April 19, 2024. The website currently however is not meant to be used as an alternative to the sheet, with the website data being many months out of date and accuracy distorted due to meme submissions being permitted as of now.

Trivia

  • Tier 0 was added to the Top Golden List on January 28, 2023, after Clantis obtained the Waterbear Mountain Full Clear Golden Berry.
  • Following the addition of Tier 0, the Top Golden List tiers were reversed on February 9, 2023, such that Tier 8 would be the hardest and Tier 1 the easiest with the purpose of making it easier for new players to understand. However this change was reverted a few weeks later on March 5, 2023 after community backlash.
  • If a challenge above Tier 0 in difficulty is completed (such as the Final Goodbye Platinum Berry), it will go into Tier X, and this tier extends up till infinity in difficulty.
  • The "etselec" tab, for the popular mod etselec, was listed in the Special Map Pack Tabs until it was removed on May 26, 2024.
