Celeste Wiki:Content Policy
Celeste Wiki requires some forms of regulation in terms of content it is willing to host. Therefore, this Content Policy refers to content which may not be hosted on this wiki. This Content Policy transcludes all of Miraheze's Content Policy, owing to the fact that Celeste Wiki is currently hosted by Miraheze. This Content Policy does not apply to any other wikis hosted on Miraheze or any other Celeste wiki and wiki-like websites; it only applies to the Celeste Wiki you're reading right now.
Neither Celeste Wiki nor Miraheze is a free hosting service for spam and search engine optimization ("SEO"). Commercial activity on the Celeste Wiki is limited to promoting Celeste, a video game developed by Maddy Thorson and released in 2018, anything that is strictly related to Celeste (examples include the Celeste Original Soundtrack), and donations, most of which are strictly limited to either fueling elements behind the site (e.g. the domain name used for Celeste Wiki) or charitable causes (e.g. supporting trans rights).
Owing to Celeste Wiki being hosted by Miraheze, which is legally based in the United Kingdom, any material that breaches United Kingdom criminal law is strictly forbidden, and violation may, or in severe cases, will lead to the loss of editing privileges. Examples of illegal content include sales of contraband resources or objects, incitement to violence, or underage nudity.
Additionally, owing to how Celeste Wiki's founder is based in Canada, and how Celeste (the game) is also published in Canada, all material must also comply with Canadian law.
In addition to content forbidden by Miraheze, questionable content, ones which might make some viewers uncomfortable, should also be avoided on Celeste Wiki. Examples of this would be videos of real-life violence or real-life nudity. Content that is related to Celeste but which may be offensive or questionable to some, such as game mods intended solely for adult players, must be tagged as such and hidden behind spoilers, not safe for work (NSFW) tags or any replacement.
Celeste Wiki attempts to respect the copyright of all content contained within it. As such, any content not related to Celeste must respect a license compatible with the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 License. All content related to the Celeste video game and any modifications and maps made for Celeste may be freely used on this wiki, owing to fair use, but must be tagged as a "Celeste asset" or "Celeste-related asset", and may not be redistributed outside of the website unless the work has a license stating otherwise, or if you have permission from the author.
Use common sense
Oftentimes, if you are unsure whether something is permitted on Celeste Wiki, ask yourself this: "is this going to be acceptable if I published this in a newspaper or posted this onto social media?" If the answer is no, you may want to think again before using it on Celeste Wiki.
