Feathers are entities first introduced in Reflection, and they appear in every chapter onwards, as well as 6B, 8B, and 6C. Collecting a feather allows Madeline to enter "feather mode," in which she can fly for a little less than five seconds in any direction[1]. Running into any non-lethal surface will cause Maddy to bounce off, or grab it if possible and Grab is held. The feather first appears at the beginning of Reflection, expanding on the idea of the feather minigame at the end of Golden Ridge.
Some feathers, known as trapped or shielded, have a bubble around them, which bounces Madeline away and refills her dashes when touched. These feathers can only be activated by being dashed into.
