Neutral Jumps are an untaught technique that's used to climb walls without using any grip strength. They're technically not required in the base game, however they're highly recommended to learn for the winged golden strawberry in Forsaken City.

Performing a neutral jump

In order to do a neutral jump, the player cannot be holding the grab button. When jumping away from a wall, Madeline only moves a short distance if no directional buttons are held, allowing the player to get back to the wall and jump off of it again. If done quick enough, it's possible to slowly climb a wall without using any stamina. Doing neutral jumps requires learning a specific rhythm which may require a lot of practice to get used to it. It's highly recommended to practice it in a room with a long, flat wall and no obstacles. (something like the big room in 6A)

Usefulness

Neutral jumps become very handy for stamina conservation, as the base game never requires the player to do any. Because of this, a lot of stamina puzzles can be made easier by saving grip strength with this trick. It's also very useful for speedrunners, especially for recovery in case of a mistake or loss of stamina. Neutrals allow the player to climb walls covered in ice, which appear in Core and in a room in Farewell.
