'''Farewell''' is the final chapter to ''[[Celeste]]'', and one of the hardest<ref>Alongside [[7C]].</ref>. Released on September 9, 2019 as a free content update, it features a space-themed setting, and various new mechanics such as [[Double Diamond|Double Diamonds]], [[Exploding fish|Exploding Fish]] and [[Jellyfish Parachutes]]. It also brings back mechanics from every other chapter of Celeste, chapters 1 through 8 inclusively.

Farewell introduces [[Wavedashing]] to the player, but also uses other speedrun techniques such as [[Wallbounces]]. Unlike all other numbered chapters in ''Celeste'', only one side (an A-Side) is present, owing to its sheer difficulty. It is initially unlocked as soon as one of Chapter 8's sides (8A or 8B) is complete, but more than half of the chapter's checkpoints are gated off by a [[Crystal Heart Gate]] requiring fifteen hearts (all A-Sides plus 1B through 7B).
